Merritt Hotel

Originally built in the late 1920's and currently being renovated by new owners Tom and Tin Davis, the Merritt Hotel was called home by "Lucky" Charles Lindbergh during his two week stay in Camp Wood in 1924.  Charles Lindbergh dropped in on tiny town Camp Wood, Texas, for a short visit.  A failed take-off attempt and minor crash kept Lindbergh in Camp Wood for the two weeks. A record of the crash into a local hardware store was preserved as a Texas Historical Marker in 1975 .
